Job Title: Millwork and Assembly Specialist - DM Vans


Role Overview

DM Vans is looking for a Millwork and Assembly Specialist join our growing team in Colorado. This role will oversee both the processing and fabrication operations inherent in the mill work fabrication stage of our manufacturing, ensuring the quality standards and accuracy of the components that make up our Lifestyle Vehicles. This position will report to the Manufacturing Manager and will work closely with the entire Operations Team to support the production process. Key responsibilities include management and operation of our Holzher Dynestic 7352 machine, overseeing the Assembly stage of production, and management of the associated shop space. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Millwork Management

• CNC Management, Operation, & Training: Act as the primary, on-site individual responsible for our CNC machine, its operation, maintenance, training, and general usage and upkeep.

• Stock Management: Coordinate with the Inventory & Logistics Manager to utilize ERP technology to track stock usage, forecast inventory needs, and optimize stock levels to support efficient production workflows.

• Work-Order Management: Organize the needed Processing operations for completion of Assembly-level work orders. 

2. Fabrication Management

• Fabrication Oversight & Assistance: Oversee the fabrication of Assemblies, ensuring all parts are built to spec and to quality standards.

• Quality Control: Coordinate with the Inventory & Logistics Manager the quality inspection of completed Assemblies to be staged for installation.

 3. Design/Manufacturing Coordination:

• Provide Manufacturing Expertise: Assist the Manufacturing Manager in development and design efforts through being a reference and source of knowledge on CNC manufacturing and general fabrication and processing.

• Cut-File Coordination: Communicate and organize effectively with the Product Manager to ensure accurate cut file sets for production needs.

 4. Operations Team Support

• Production Assistance: Assist elsewhere in the production process as needed.

• Scheduling and Supervision: Assists the Manufacturing Manager with team management of Manufacturing Techs and overall shop management.

• Performance Management: Provide regular feedback to team members, fostering a culture of accountability, improvement, and team cohesion.

5.    Process Improvement

• Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for process improvement in both inventory management and fabrication operations to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.

• Lean Manufacturing Principles: Apply lean manufacturing techniques to streamline workflows and improve productivity within the fabrication and inventory management processes.

• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inventory movement, fabrication outputs, and quality control results, providing regular updates to the Operations Director.

6.     Facility and Equipment Maintenance

• Workstation Organization: Ensure a clean, safe, and organized workspace, reinforcing best practices for a productive working environment.

• Equipment Maintenance: Schedule and perform regular maintenance on fabrication equipment, including the CNC machine, to prevent downtime and extend equipment lifespan.


Key Skills & Qualifications:

• Shop Management Experience: 2+ years of manufacturing-focused experience in a management role, preferably in millwork and/or assembly.

• CNC Milling Experience: 2+ years experience working with CNC machinery, preferably 3-axis milling in a manufacturing setting. 

  • Diverse Fabrication Background: experience relevant to the various assembly & fabrication techniques involved in our assemblies, such as millwork, cabinetry & assembly, lay-ups & lamination, 12v/120v electrical, installation, etc.

• Leadership Skills: Demonstrated experience in supervising and training a team, with strong interpersonal skills to promote a collaborative environment.

• Quality Focus: Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards in both inventory and fabricated parts.

• Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to identify challenges in inventory and fabrication processes, implementing effective solutions and continuous improvements.

• Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities, with experience managing both physical and digital inventory records.

• Technology Savvy: Proficient in using ERP systems, with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies for improved efficiency.


KPIs for the Inventory and Fabrication Manager:

• Inventory Accuracy: Maintain a high level of accuracy in inventory records throughout the Assembly stage.

• Production Efficacy: Meet or exceed production targets, ensuring that fabrication processes are aligned with production schedules.

• Processing Optimization: Maximize the efficiency and usage of CNC machining and material usage.

• Quality Control: Achieve low defect rates in fabricated parts, contributing to the overall quality standards of DM Vans.

• Process Improvement: Identify and implement at least two process improvements per quarter in assembly operations.


Compensation & Growth

  • Base Wage: $60,000 / year
